Happy Birthday from the Gnomies!

 

Gnomes seem to be popping up everywhere lately & this smiley crew are from SheepSki Designs. This was one of 3 images I won on their FB page challenge last month. Andrea has some wonderful images which you can check out here. 

This is the first time I have made a "swing" card & it gave me a headache!😂 The instructions were simple enough but I'm not the most patient person when it comes to measuring accurately & that's a big mistake when making these cards....I had to do some creative "cutting". I will definitely know better next time! I made this card for my SIL who loves gnomes & the colour blue. It's coloured with copic markers & the balloons are coated with glossy accents. The papers are Recollections.

Have a "Ducky" Day

 

This cutie & her duck friends are from All Dressed Up digital stamps & I couldn't resist using the sentiment "Hope your birthday is just ducky" on the inside of it. She is coloured with copic markers with a little bit of sparkle added to her umbrella with Diamond Stickles. The floral DP is from Doodlebug Designs but the yellow & white polka dot is from my scrap bucket so I don't know where it's from. The flowers are Sissix dies with little heart centers that are from a Martha Stewart punch.

 Here in Manitoba we were doing so well with COVID cases but then let our guard down & now our numbers are going crazy. Well, crazy compared to what they were. We had 43 new cases today.....until the beginning of September we were only getting a couple of cases a day. Thank goodness for crafting because it's going to be a LONG winter. We usually go somewhere warm for a few months in the winter but that is not an option this year.  Stay safe out there!

Hoppy Birthday!

Our youngest granddaughter just had her 13th birthday.....I'm not quite sure how that happened because it seems like just yesterday she was born! Emily is our animal lover, tree hugger & defender of the underdog. Her favourite animals are llamas but I have made her llama cards for 3 years in a row so it was time for a change. Along came this adorable birthday bunny from Mo Manning just on time for the big day. Emily has a bunny called Poppy (& a kitten called George & 2 dogs called Penny & Scout & about 400 tropical fish whose names I don't know LOL)

We have had an extremely hot summer here in Manitoba. Today was 33C....too hot for me outside so I have been spending lots of time in my craft room. Thank goodness for air conditioning! We have been staying pretty close to home anyway with COVID19.  Hope you are all staying safe!

I Do

This lovely image is "First Dance" from All Dressed Up stamps. The card is for a lovely young couple who are having an outdoor wedding next week. (thanks to COVID restrictions) The pretty designer paper is Kaisercraft, Sage & Grace collection....Dainty & the cardstock is Bazzill....petal soft. The dies used are a combination of Memory Box, Sizzix & Stampin Up. Ribbon is from Michael's.

Cottage Life

My Hubby & I lived full time at our little cottage on the lake for 9 years before we had to sell it & move back into the city. It was a wonderful time & I certainly miss lots of things about living there but all good things must come to an end. Now, life in the city is full of new adventures...& with 3 incredible grandchildren things are never boring! This lovely Stampscapes image reminds me of those peaceful times. I coloured it with copic markers & the "lake" is shimmering thanks to a Spectrum Noir glitter pen. The woodgrain paper is from a pad by ms.sparkle & co. & the pinecone stamp & die came with a Cardmaker magazine.

Fairy Garden

Do you believe in fairies? I was born in Ireland & grew up with tales of fairies & leprechauns...the "little people!"  I remember as a child going down to the bottom of my Granny's garden to try to find them. Much to my disappointment I never did succeed. Now I can create my own fairy garden with beautiful Lavinia stamps! This one is called "Seeing is Believing". The wildflower border along the bottom is an oldie from Indigo Blu. I created my background with Distress Inks: moon...mustard seed & wild honey; northern lights....wilted violet, cracked pistachio, worn lipstick, mustard seed & wild honey as well as Momento Bahama blue. I'm really happy with the way this little bit of magic turned out!

Broken

It's hard to read the words at the top of this image but they are very powerful...."some things are more beautiful when they are broken"  This was a picture of a painting a friend has & she asked if I could make a card for her Hubby from the picture. I used Pixlr to remove all the colour from the image & then used copics to put all the colour back 😃 LOL! In 2018 we spent the winter on Vancouver Island where we saw lots of old beached fishing boats. This image took me back to the ocean....I could almost smell the salt air!

If Life Gives You Lemons!

If life gives you lemons.....make lemonade! Boy, life has sure given us lemons in the last 5 months! My little corner of the world is relatively safe in these crazy COVID times but it has still changed our everyday life in so many ways. This sweet digital image from Mo Manning was fun to colour using copic markers. The papers are from my scrap bucket.  The butterfly is a Martha Stewart punch & pearls are Stampin Up. The butterfly is sparkly with the help of Wink of Stella.

Poppies

I used to grow big, beautiful poppies in my backyard & I could look out my kitchen window to see them blowing gently in the breeze....they made me smile! These ones are by Stampin Up & the lovely sentiment is from Graciellie Designs. I've used copics to colour the poppies; Sizzex dies for the leaves & the DP is MME, Bohemia.

I am lucky enough to live in an area that hasn't been too hard hit by COVID 19. Our province has only had 325 cases; unfortunately there were 7 deaths in those numbers. Our healthcare workers have done an amazing job of caring for those who were hospitalized. This is a card I made to thank a special male nurse for his dedication. The image is by Crissy Armstrong at Whimsey Stamps & is coloured with copic markers. Stay healthy out there!

Wedding Bells

Many things have changed during this trying time of COVID 19.....weddings being one of those things. My niece & her love are getting married soon in a beautiful lakeside ceremony. Brad, the groom is a real outdoors man....unfortunately he likes to hunt but this deer is safely hiding in the bushes. This is a combination of 3 different digital images from Make It Crafty (which no longer exists...insert sad face here!)  My little scene is coloured with copic markers & the puffy clouds in the sky are Memory Box dies. The heart border is a Martha Stewart punch. I added a little twine to add to the outdoorsy feeling.  Thanks for stopping by!

Happy 50th Anniversary!

This loving couple is Tom & Tilly from Mo Manning. The perfect image to use on a 50th anniversary card. I coloured the image with copic markers & the clouds were created using the Lawn Fawn cloud stencil. The Happy 50th are Itty Bitty Alphabet  die cuts by MFT & although you can't really tell from this picture they are cut from gold shimmer paper.(Recollections) The whitewashed brick DP is also Recollections. The flower & leaves are Stampin Up.

Farmer John

A friend asked me to make a card for her brother John who loves growing tomatoes. This Mo Manning image was absolutely perfect for the job! "John" is coloured with copic markers & I used my new cloud stencil from Lawn Fawn for the first time....still need a little practice but I'm pretty happy with it. Purrfday Kitty

When I asked my granddaughter Jessica what she wanted for her 17th birthday she answered "an orange kitten & a convertible". Well, I made her a card with an orange kitten & bought her a Matchbox convertible! Not quite what she had

in mind but she did get a good laugh out of it. This is a Mo Manning image which I received for being a Mo's  Patreon member. I absolutely love the look on this kitty's face! My image is coloured with copic markers.

I was asked to be part of a group to make cards for local health care workers thanking them for helping to keep us safe during this uncertain time of COVID-19. I am very lucky to live in a province in Canada that has had very few cases of COVID only 297 & 7 deaths (although even that is too many) I am hoping that as things slowly reopen we do not get an upswing in the curve. I have recently discovered the wonderful world of Lee Holland digital stamps! She offers a wide variety of adorable images but the dragon collection stole my heart! This sweet fellow is for a dear friends birthday. Her favourite colours are lime green & orange. I used copic markers to colour this. The little dragonfly is all sparkly but it doesn't show up very well in the picture.

Get Well Soon

A neighbour in our apartment building recently had abdominal surgery & this cute teddy bear from Beccy's Place seemed like the perfect image for a get well card....especially with his stitched up tummy! The bandaid stamp is from the dollar bin at Michael's. Our neighbor is home & doing well & he loved his card.

Love You More Than Chocolate!

I love Mo Manning images & this oldie is one of my favourites.  I have coloured her with copic markers & I used a Spectrum Noir Sparkle pen on the big blue heart. My photography skills aren't very good so you can't tell that it is lovely & sparkly! The sentiment is one that came with the image. I have no clue about the papers as they came out of my scraps bucket. I am using a sketch from the challenge at Mo's this month.
